Pengembangan Media Audiovisual berbasis Podcast pada Materi Menyimak Teks Berita Siswa Kelas VII SMP Swasta Kristen Agios Nikolaos

Abstract

Listening is one of the important language skills for students to master, especially in understanding news texts. However, in reality, seventh-grade students of Agios Nikolaos Private Christian Middle School still experience difficulties in understanding the contents of news texts because the learning process has not utilized interesting and innovative media. As a result, students are less focused and less active in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to develop podcast-based audiovisual media on the material of listening to news texts that are valid, practical, and effective. This type of research is development research. The development model (Research and Development) used is ADDIE which consists of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate. The research instruments used include expert validation sheets, student practicality questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. Based on the results of the study, the podcast-based audiovisual media developed meets the criteria of "Very Feasible" through validation by three experts, namely material experts 100%, language experts 100% and media experts 98.68%. Furthermore, the podcast-based audiovisual media used by students in small group product trials obtained a practicality level of 95.42% with the criteria of "very practical", while in large group trials it was obtained 85.75% with the criteria of "very practical". In addition, podcast-based audiovisual media was also effective to use, in small group trials it reached 83.3% with the criteria of "very effective", then in large group trials it obtained a percentage of 85% with the criteria of "Very Effective". From the results of the research above, the podcast-based audiovisual media developed has met the research objectives.
