Abstract

Vocational education plays a strategic role in preparing a skilled workforce capable of adapting to industrial dynamics and technological developments in the era of digital transformation. This study is motivated by the rapid development of technology-based industries, automation, and increasingly complex workforce competency demands, which require vocational education institutions to produce graduates who not only possess technical skills but also demonstrate critical thinking abilities, digital literacy, and adaptability to change. However, several challenges remain in the implementation of vocational education, including the mismatch between curricula and industry needs, disparities in educational quality across regions, and the limited competence of educators in integrating technology and innovative learning approaches into the teaching process. These conditions highlight the need for comprehensive strategies to improve the quality of vocational education so that it becomes more relevant to labor market demands. Based on these issues, this study aims to analyze strategies for improving the quality of vocational education through strengthening educators’ competencies, transforming industry-based curricula, and integrating deep learning approaches into the learning process. This research employs a qualitative approach using a systematic literature review method of various studies related to vocational education, educator competency development, and technology-based learning innovations. Findings indicate that improving the quality of vocational education requires a holistic and sustainable approach, including continuous professional development for educators through ongoing training, curriculum renewal that is adaptive to industry needs, and the utilization of digital technology in the learning process. Furthermore, the integration of deep learning approaches in vocational education has been shown to enhance students’ critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, digital literacy, and work readiness. This study provides a conceptual contribution to the development of a vocational education quality improvement model that is more adaptive, innovative, and aligned with the demands of the workforce in the era of digital transformation.
